Skinny Love by Bon Iver:
This album makes me want to slow dance in the kitchen.
But Bon Iver (Justin Vernon) says this about the song's meaning: "Part of the trouble with the old haunting love, is that it [messes] with your future loves, and can damn and/or ambush your relationships."
Lately I've been getting frustrated because I am attracted to the way a song sounds, but the lyrics aren't what I want them to be. Does that ever happen to you? I fall in love with the sound of a song before I have a chance to pay attention to the lyrics, but then I realize it's about drugs or something sad. I guess a lot of great songs are, and that's what makes many of them interesting.

I had a strange experience the other day. I was out for a walk/jog on Saturday morning at a park. On my way home, there was a guy standing near the entrance of the park, facing me. As I got closer to him, he started smiling and chanting, "Sar-ah! Sar-ah!" As I was about to run past him (looking perplexed I'm sure), he took off running, right past me, in the opposite direction. I can't remember if I said anything, because I was so confused.
I don't want to be rude, but I can't figure out how I know this guy. I was wearing my Obama shirt, so I thought maybe he recognized me from my blog? Do I know you???
Please comment or shoot me an email.

Mamma Z made some delicious "Summer Pasta with a twist" while we were in Connecticut. Yum! I love new combinations of simple ingredients.
Scott and I recreated it last night. It's fresh, easy, and sooo tasty.
• Shell pasta (large shells are best, but sometimes hard to find)
• Fresh tomatoes, diced
• Fresh basil, coarsely chopped
• Fresh garlic, minced
• Olive oil
With a Twist:
• Add fresh corn on the cob
With a double Twist:
• Add goat cheese
Cook the pasta, cook the corn. Cut corn off the cob. Heat olive oil & garlic. Toss everything together. Feast.
PS Don't ever let Mama Z see you using pre-minced garlic. (Don't worry, we used fresh garlic for this).

I treated myself to a new camera, because I'm tired of editing my photos in photoshop to make it look like they were blurry on purpose.
They weren't blurry on purpose.
My old camera has just been blurry for months, and I just kept making them blurrier so that you thought it was some kind of artistic statement. Did I fool you?
I do sometimes like that style. Just not ALL the time.
Anyway, Einstein is one of my first photo subjects for the new toy.
Canon PowerShot SD870 IS. 8 megapixels. Nice wide angel.

My mom's friends have this really great tradition – the morning after one of their friend's kids gets married, they bring a delicious brunch over to the wedding family & out-of-town guests. They do all of the prep and the work, chat a bit while they set food and drinks out, and then they sneak off so the family can visit and enjoy some relaxing post-wedding time.
And, of course, they always stick these flamingos in the lawn.
A key part of the tradition.
I love tradition.

Digging the way this song sounds. Police & The Private by Metric.
It very much reminds me of Stars.
Time to listen to some more to see if the rest of their stuff is as good. Hope so!!
Does anybody check this ol' blog any more? Perhaps I will get back to posting more regularly : )
