Farecast

Farecast.com is a very handy website that I stumbled upon. You type in when and where you want to travel, and it looks at the trends from previous years to tell you when is the best (cheapest) time to buy. Delightful. I like the bright, clean, simple, easy-to-interpret icons and graphs, too. I wonder how accurate it is? I'm interested to hear an airline insider's opinion on this.

The one thing I don't like about Farecast is that they don't cover any of the discount carriers. I've found that a much better site to find airfare deals is www.airfarewatchdog.com. They manually search for the best fares across the airline's own websites as well as discount carriers like Southwest and Skybus. Unfortunately, Farecast and others do not cover any of these, so you never know if you're getting the best deal.

Interesting, thanks for the advice. I'll bookmark airfarewatchdog.
